Tokyo Shopping Street | Marunouchi-naka-Dori and International Boutiques

A pedestrian friendly street that lies not too far from South Exit of JR Tokyo Station is Marunouchi-naka-Dori or better known to the English speakers as Marunouchi Shopping Street. We did not expect to experience the air of sophistication, somehow our destination to Imperial Palace brought us to pass through an up-scale area of Marunouchi which are lined up with international boutiques such as Hermes, Brook Brothers, Tiffany & Co, Kate Spade and Royal Copenhagen. This is the so-called Tokyo’s Fifth Avenue!

From the first thought of standing at Manhattan in NYC, the sight of blooming tulips planted along the walkway on both sides of the street seemed transporting me to Amsterdam on the next second! Back to my senses, I realized that I was still on the ground of Tokyo. Exhibiting the outlook of premier shopping street, Marunouchi is the home to banking buildings, offices, upscale restaurants and boutiques of individually styled.

Ueno Ameyoko Japanese Restaurant | Gindaco – Takoyaki and Yakisoba

If one happens to visit Ameyoko Market Street, Japanese food is one thing should not be missed here. Reasonably priced and delectable, I guess that’s the reason locals flock and grab something to tuck in. The aroma of the food and visual temptation are hard to resist.

Everything in Japanese
Guided by our instinct, we picked a simple Japanese restaurant to chow down. Everything on the signboard at its facade is in Japanese except the name – Gindaco and the pictures of what they serve. People say a picture tells more than a thousand words. I guess the 4 pictures had provided us rather a lengthy story and inviting.
