Popular with the locals, Bukit Dumbar recreational park is a great place for brisk walking and jogging on its hilly tracks. Nestled against a small man-made hill not too far from Tesco Jelutong Hypermarket, this public park was built over an underground reservoir. Chinese Moon Cake Recipe | Quick and Easy Snow Skin Mooncakes

Chinese Moon Festival

In Chinese tradition, Moon Cake Festival or Lantern Festival are synonyms for Mid Autumn Festival. Years back, I was way ignorance to wish a group of fellow friends “Happy Moon Cake Festival”. Then, a guy responded, quipped “It’s Mid Autumn Festival if we were to translate it from Zhōngqiū Jié”. Exactly, he is right. This harvest celebration is officially the Mid Autumn Festival because it falls in the autumn on the fifteenth day of eighth month in Lunar calendar, pretty closes to autumnal equinox! That’s the best lesson after all, the rightful manner to address this cultural celebration despite Moon Cake Festival or Lantern Festival have been used interchangeably for Mid Autumn Festival in most English literature!

Perak Road Wet Market | Ah Keong Penang Hokkien Mee

As the name suggests, Penang Hokkien Mee is an iconic hawker food in the Pearl of The Orient or Pulau Pinang. Served in a bowl of prawn-shell rich broth, flavored with liberal servings of bean sprouts (taugeh), hard boiled egg, water spinach (kangkung), shredding pork and prawns with a garnishing of deep fried shallots, it is actually savory more than spicy despite its bright orange broth. The same dish is however known as Prawn Noodles in other states and Singapore.
