For one who frequents Austin Chinatown Center, TC Noodle House should have caught your attention especially among those that enter from Kramer or Braker Lanes direction. Despite of that, it had never triggered my heart to walk into this restaurant until last weekend. After a long day out, we decided to head straight for dinner. A friend suggested a Teochew restaurant at Chinatown while I thought of TC Noodle House (since all of us had never been there). Little that I know that both of us were referring to the same restaurant until we arrived. The Chinese characters at its facade does read Teochew Restaurant but for simplicity it was named as TC, that's what we guessed.
TC Noodle House - a place for all kind of noodles!
We arrived at about 9 pm and I did ask whether it was alright since their business hours is from 10:30am through 9:30pm. The waitstaff sounded fine and pointed us to a corner for a table of four. Right then, almost half the restaurant was still occupied.
Delicious!
The menu features a long list of interesting egg noodle, rice noodle and fried noodle. In addition to that, TC Noodle House also serves the family-style dinning with dishes prepared from pork, chicken, beef and seafood. Indeed a huge variety of cuisine blending the tastes from Chinese-Teochew and Vietnamese. For one who is looking for vegetarian dishes or porridge, TC Noodle House is also the place to be. And we hurriedly placed the order anticipating closing time was drawing nearer.
Fried Lor-mein with chicken
Our food arrived in less than 15 minutes. With Chicken Lo-Mein as pioneer, followed by three bowls of noodles. To our surprise, the noodle was served with bean sprouts, cilantro and lime wedges assimilating the style of Pho or Vietnamese noodle.
An irresistible egg noodle
All of us were happy with the food, but contrary on the service which has plenty of room for improvement.
