This year, the birthday celebration for my Significant Other was truly Austin! We toasted at The Oasis Restaurant which is popularly known as 'The Sunset Capital of Texas'. Located about 15 miles from our current residence, the decision to celebrate by Lake Travis was rather impromptu.

After our afternoon walk cum jog at Lady Bird Lake, a friend suggested Lake Travis for Tex-Mex cuisine. Claimed as one of the top ten visitor attractions in Austin, my Significant Other and I rushed there right after and guess we made it on time to capture the stunning sight of the sunset! That day was just perfect as weather was sunny through the whole afternoon.

The Oasis Restaurant was founded in 1982 by owner Beau Theriot and it features a multi-deck Tuscan architecture building hugging the edge of Lake Travis. Situated about 400 feet above the lake, The Oasis offers spacious dining area ranging from indoor, outdoor and private rooms for gathering, get-together or a simple date like ours. Never be forgotten by its outstanding live music, there is a stage and dance hall with bar counter on the top deck. Do not miss that if you love dancing and the local music!

We opted for the open-air deck and our server came promptly with menu. We picked a platter of Tex-Mex called Pulled Pork Rellenos for my Significant Other and an appetizer - Chicken Pirata for myself. And to celebrate this memorable occasion, we complemented with a glass of frozen Perfect Margarita. Cheers!

The service was excellent. The food was just slightly above average but the margarita was fabulous! The Oasis is definitely the venue to be if you are looking for fun and impressive view of Lake Travis with the spirit of Texas!
