Interesting spices to prepare Pho's brothLast month while we were doing our grocery shopping, my Significant Other pointed to me a packet of Vietnamese noodle spices or fondly known as 'Pho' (pronouces as 'fur' though) on the shelf. Being here in Austin, we have the luxurious of just walk into any Vietnamese restaurants for a bowl of hot pho. Despite of the convenience we could have, we decided to try with a packet of pho spices. I was curious whether this one packet was all about it for pho. Unfortunately, we do not read Vietnamese so…

Fresh blueberries..Out of all the baking experiments, I would rank baking muffin as my number one favorite. That also means 2 lbs of flour at home can hardly last for 2 months! The joy of baking muffin is overwhelming. And now is the best season to bake muffin, in a way preparing in advance for festivities! I guess I fall in love with muffins due to obvious reasons. Muffin's holder and papare cupBaking muffin is somehow addictive for me. The more muffins I baked, the more I wish to bake. In this installment, I am going to share a recipe that I newly discovered. Interestingly, a muffin that is baked in small portion is a type of bread. What I love about muffin is they usually are not as sweet as cupcakes, more dense (more flour) and contains 'healthy' stuff (usually fruits like banana, blueberry and strawberry) instead of frosting top. If you wish to compare these two, perhaps it is good…

Hotdog with chips, fresh onion and tomatoThe advantage of living here in Austin is I have the luxury of options for sausages and breads with  countless of variations. Since there was sufficient supply of Wieners and hot dog bun at home, I decided to turn them into hotdog. As the name says 'hot'-dog, hotdog buns are usually served warm and this is something I love about hotdog compare to sandwiches. On one thought, the hotdog's preparation is pretty straight forward. Just get the Wieners/sausages cooked either smoked or grilled. Then, c…
