 Last Saturday was our first road trip out of Austin. Being here for more than 10 days, I guess we would love to see beyond the Weird City of Austin. After doing some homework and studied with the locals, we decided for a hiking adventure at Enchanted Rock!  Brown Bear or scientifically known as Ursus arctos, is relatively a large bear among its species. Excel in sprinting whereby a Brown Bear can run at speeds of 57 km/h for short distances. Brown Bears are found primarily in Northern Hemisphere especially Northern Alaska, Canada, Russia and Finland.They tend to attack human especially when their cubs are being threaten or in danger.  Malayan Sun Bear is the bear that loves honey! So it is also called Honey Bear (but this is not Pooh Bear though!). The smallest in term of size among all bear species, Sun Bear is known scientifically as Helarctos malayanus (binomial name). The standing Sun Bear can reach about 1.2m height and the male grows larger than the female.  It is called Banteng which at first glance, I thought it was a cow. Belong to the species of wild cattle, Banteng looks similar to domestic cattle. The most obvious differentiation is the white stoking at the lower legs which will make no mistake to recognize as Banteng. Distributed widely in South East Asia, spreading from Myanmar to Borneo (except Sumatra), Banteng is also known as Tembadau or Bali Cattle. They serve as working animal and also use for their meats as well. |

 Emu or the binomial name called Dromaius novaehollandiae is a flightless bird! Being the largest bird native in Australia and the second largest extant bird by weight in the world after ostrich. Emu used to be the wheat plantation's greatest pest. Mass hunting of Emus was performed to control wheat plantation and now resulted as a threat to this species. Besides its size, Emu can be recognized by its soft-feathered of brown color and comes of height that can reach up to 2 meters. |
