If you ever thought of dining under a bridge, fanning by the sea breeze, overlooking green patches blended with shallow water and flying sea gulls on the sky amidst of a lagoon, then Doc's Seafood & Steaks Restaurant is the place for you.
The facade of Doc's Seafood and Steak
On Laguna Madre by the JF Kennedy Causeway, Doc's Seafood & Steaks Restaurant stands on a small piece of land under the bridge, offers all the above mentioned. Less than 30-minute drive from Corpus Christi downtown, Doc's location is special. It presents an extraordinary atmosphere to dine with beautiful sunset on a good day.
Blue water and lush green of Laguna Madre
New England seafood chowder
We were introduced to Doc's by chance when we traveled across Laguna Madre via JF Kennedy Causeway during our trip to Mustang Island. From our moving vehicle on the bridge, we noticed about Doc's. A cozy spot that lies beneath us, encircled by a mesmerizing water land. Indeed inviting. In fact, the breathtaking sight attracted us to drive there for lunch on the following day before returning to Austin. Moreover, we had vowed not to leave Corpus Christi without a good meal of fresh seafood!

Appetizer - House salad
Flounders with Mexican rice and vegetables
Fettucine with grilled shrimps
All in 1 on a platter - Seafood Combo
Doc's menu features both selection from land and sea including steak, shrimp, crab, fish, burger, pasta, soup, salad and dessert. Surrounded by water, nothing else interest us except salt water fish and fresh seafood!
A basket of popcorn shrimps
Grilled prawns with mushroom sauce
With huge appetite and long yearning for fresh seafood, our dining tables were quickly filled up with platters of entrees in addition to the complimentary breads, clam chowder and salads. Hope these could last us for a few more moons before landing on our homeland to taste a delectable seafood again!

Went there on the evening of 4-8 2011 ...

Was about 8:30 pm ..... Ordered 3dz oysters on the half shell and 1.lb of shrimp for appetizers... between three people... You cant screw that up...Right? well a fue of the oysters I'm pretty sure were bad...the shrimp seemed to be boiled in just plain water... And having eaten at many fine dinning establishments....I must say .. We ordered two Grilled sample platters The food was about the worst I've ever tasted...The crab cake....Well I spit it out it was so nasty...The fish was maybe cooked on a flat top in some fry grease... Was nasty also... Only thing eatable maybe was the red potato that was part of the vegetable medley....I would give this place a -3 on a scale of 1 to 5 as in five stars....Before I wrote this particular review...I did read quite a fue good one online ...But none as recent...I'm wandering if maybe they didn't write them themselves ( Management / employees) Cause after our experience...we cant be all speaking of the same location....The only way i can best describe my dinning experience there was it Sucked...And the food tasted like Shit...... When the waiter ask me how was the meal ....I told him exactly that.....As bad as the food was I can only imagine what the kitchen was like...Tomorrow 4-11-11 ...I'm gonna call the health inspector in Corpus Christi ...And , suggest they pay them a visit..... Word of warning Folks...
DONT WASTE YOU MONEY....FOOD SUCKS >>>STAFFED BY A BUNCH OF KIDS (Not professional anything ,,, Much less polished.....atmosphere was not good due to the house full of late nite unruly drunks cursing like sailors

My comments are identical as Scotts...

Was there 5-3-11. Three of us. Food took somtime to to get to the table. Daughter ordered crab cakes. The crab cakes were so spicy we had to send em back and we eat jalapenos and serrano peppers all the time yet the crab cakes were beyond hot and no taste of crab! So we ordered skewered shrimp. The skewered shrimp were so over grilled that they were almost hard and tasteless. The only taste to the skewered shrimp was the taste of burnt grease from the grill. Horrible!!! Wife ordered bacon wrapped shrimp. The shrimp were like rubber no taste of shrimp but you could taste the bacon and pepper. I ordered a cheeseburger. They got that right! Imagine that.
You would think that a seafood restraunt by the water would have the freshest tasting seafood around, not so here. I love the taste of gulf seafood and could not get it here and to think I grew up in Flour Bluff.
I would not recommend this place to anyone plus the food was way overpriced.
