Have you ever seen Rice Dumplings or 'Zongzi' wrapped in a rectangular manner like below?
These rice dumplings are made of glutinous rice then stuffed with pork, chestnuts and mushroom, sold by a man in mid 30s with a 'cowboy' hat seemed attracting us and some other folks to linger near the stall.
This stall was parked right in front of Lou Wang, perhaps to grab attention of Lou Wang patrons! The 'cowboy' seller was friendly explaining to us the content and price of each type. The rice dumpling in tringular shape cost RM4.50 each and one rectangular dumpling costed RM7.00 each. The seller claimed that one rectangular shaped dumpling was made from an equivalent amount of two triangular shaped dumplings. So he concluded that it was more cost effective to get the rectangular one.
Apart from rice dumplings, he also offered fried Chinese chestnuts and steamed sweet potato.
Being curious of the taste, we bought one rectangular 'Zongzi' to take home.
How did it looks like? Here it goes...step by step as shared below. Original shape of 'our' rice dumpling in bamboo leaves from the Ipoh.
Then, we tried to lift the leaves to heat up in microwave oven.
 Oh, the dumpling is naked!

If you are the fatty pork lover, this is perfect for you!
How to spot the cowboy's rice dumplings? We were there around noon on Sunday, perhaps a pretty good clue to find him. Happy hunting! If you are looking to stay at this place you may try find your hotels in Ipoh
