We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses ~ Abraham Lincoln

Phoenix is a mythical bird with a beautiful tail. In Chinese legend, it symbolizes beauty, good luck and female energy. Understanding the myth obviously give us a better clue on what this composition can offer or for what occasion.
This lesson shares some tips on how to compose a phoenix leveraging on Strelitzia or commonly known as 'Bird of Paradise' and palm leaves.
Tips for this arrangement: Compose from side view and top view.
Floral Material: 1. Strelitzia - 1 stalk. 2. Secondary flower - White chrysanthemum 3. Leaves or foliages - Leather ferns and palm leaves 4. Filler - Red berries 5. Container - a round shallow bowl
Getting started: 1. To beautify the bowl, insert some red gift papers before placing the oasis.
 2. Chop the Strelitzia's stem short and place on one end of the oasis to represent the neck, head and beak of the phoenix. Imagination is the best used here! 3. Then, insert 2 pieces of palm leaves on the opposite end of oasis to resemble tail of a beautiful phoenix.
 4. Continue with leather ferns to cover the oasis.
 5. Insert the white chrysanthemum and lastly the red berries to beautify the body of the phoenix.
It is simple but requires plenty of thoughts. Try out and share your success story !
