Dream versus Goal

DreamI like to dream, in fact I have been dreaming of big pay checks, big house, big car. Everything that is big is all my wants and I guess that this stuff will drop down from the sky especially for me. What a naive thoughts in the first phase of thinking process!

Fine, then if these stuff are not going to appear without a reason, then shall I just work hard to get it. Stretch my life, spending long hours at work, so that my boss will notice, get a promotion, get a better pay check. Is this about it? Oh no! What a boring life I am going to end-up with!
Then, a wise friend suddenly triggered me of getting rich fast. If we want to get rich, what are our options? Married a rich man? Invest in stock? Buy a lottery? Are we just talking about it? Or shall we put this option into an action? That is the different between dreaming and chasing after the dream which is a goal. We learn so much from Stephen Covey; begin with an end in mind. What is the end? Getting rich. What is(are) the action taken to achieve this goal? Firstly, we must buy lotto, then how many lotto to buy per week, what is the probability or chance of winning? Shouldn't we find out this type of information? How much money we are willing to put in (resources)? Blend in some wisdom and have budget and time line. If you are leaving it solely to fate and luck, I think it almost an equivalent of paying for a service that never fulfilled. Why aren't we then donating this amount to the needy instead?

Nevertheless, after putting in all the effort and if we still don't get rich, then it is time to go back to the thinking process. Re-evaluate. Is this the only option to get rich? What else I can do? Can I invest in stock? Yes, of course you can. What shall I do next? Perhaps, I shall get a good book to understand better about stock before putting in the resources. Nothing comes easy and effort is not an option, it is a must.

We could be hearing that so and so had earned a big fortune, either big bucks or big bungalow but the important piece that is missing is effort. People usually overcooked the stories and forget to justify the effort.

Dream will remain as dust without action, while goal can be achieved with right effort put into it. There is nothing wrong if we start with a dream but we must always ensure that the action proceeds with the correct timing and we will harvest the fruits! Good Luck!
