The recent price war among the fast chain restaurants put these so-called 'western food' to be very affordable, in fact it is battling against the street western food and stuff in hawker centers as well.

If you're looking for a 'localized' western food below RM10, you may not go far wrong with Mount Erskine western delight, Fettes Park western food Penang or street vendors at hawker centers or food courts. The term 'localized' is to stress the fact that these western platters have been tuned to the local's palate, offered in unique names that are not common in the authentic Western food menu and served with frozen vegetables and fries. Nonetheless, these are the 'real' western food in Penang today.

What to see in Austin Texas | Lake Travis View at Sunset http://mywisewife.com/what-to-see-in-austin-texas-lake-travis-view-at-sunset.html What to see in Austin Texas  We wanted a picture perfect evening of Lake Travis view, this is exactly we wish for what to see in Austin! Basked in all the glory of mother nature has to offer, right in the neighborhood of the Austin suburbs, we thought that The Oasis might be the place to be.
The Oasis on Lake Travis Austin Texas
As our car turned around the corner, The Oasis of Austin Texas loomed into view. It's a massive structure, built on the cliff side, hanging precariously - looking on to Lake Travis like a giant ship about to topple over into the lake.

The walk from the car park to The Oasis takes you through a small range of shops, flower-beds and an assortment of sculptures which can only be described as strange and weird or extraordinary - like for example the remains of what seems to be a small spaceship.

Milo Drink | Alike or Alternatives of Chocolate Malt Beverages http://mywisewife.com/milo-drink-alike-or-alternatives-of-chocolate-malt-beverages.html Craze over Milo drink
In Malaysia, the craze over Milo drink is beyond your imagination! Right from the moment Malaysians rise, the first thing to do is heading to kitchen for a mug of Milo drink. If not, these folks will stop at Chinese coffee shops on their way to office to get their morning dose of this Nestle Milo drink. Even if not, I can bet they are likely to grab a mug to make Milo drink at office's pantry by 10 am!

Generally speaking, the consumption of Milo drink is rising, second to none as the number one beverage in Malaysia and same thing happens in neighboring countries like Singapore and Thailand. Fit to serve all walk of life, from toddlers to golden seniors for a simple reason that it doesn't contain as much caffeine as found in tea and coffee. Moreover, Milo drink is easily available everywhere, being a must-stock-item at home to a must-sell-beverage in every kopitiams!

Penang Hill Once My Backyard | Nature Tales and Trails http://mywisewife.com/penang-hill-once-my-backyard-nature-tales-and-trails.html Rewinding moments in time several years back, Penang Hill was like my backyard. Some claim it was haunted but I stayed overnight, camping under moon light, quenching thirst from tiny stream, rising to sniff nature, wandering in the vegetable/flower farms, leaving behind my foot steps on the terrain and trekking up to the summit from all directions on weekends. Until we moved out of Penang temporarily, then a little one came along making 3 in our family, life is slightly different but my love towards this hill remains the same.

Located on Strawberry Hill (named after strawberry that was once planted at this peak) next to the Penang Hill Railway Station at the summit, the wooden gate and a tiny booth by the paved summit road is hardly missed. If you pass by these days, sometimes you can hear the slow rock music blasted from Sky Terrace, another great spot to steal a panoramic view of Penang and its surroundings. Also belongs to David Brown's, Sky Terrace offers a more casual setting perhaps for drinks and light snacks or desserts.

Penang Food Guide | Top 10 Must-Try Foods http://mywisewife.com/penang-food-guide-top-10-must-try-foods.html Penang Food Guide If you are looking for a foodie holidays, Penang is an ideal destination for you and this post offers the best keep secrets of Penang food guide. Penang or nicknamed as the food haven is a small isle floating on Straits of Malacca north of Peninsular Malaysia. Steep in history, rich of multicultural heritage, and similarly goes to the delicacy! Full of good food, Penang has them all. From appetizers, mains, desserts to fruits, Penang has all sorts of delectable food that you wouldn't want to miss out!

From the palette of locals, the list below are the top 10 food that you must try before leaving Penang! This post also reveals some of the hidden gems to spot the best flavor of its kind.

1. Assam Laksa
Made it to no. 7 in the list of world's 50 most delicious food in CNNGo.com, Assam Laksa is one of most remarkable delicacy of Penang. Beyond food, Assam Laksa represents a blend of Penang's geography, history, chemistry and botany. The soup is cooked from tamarind, chili, lemongrass, onion, galangal, polygonum leaf (daun kesom) and ginger flower (bunga kantan) - these are tropical ingredients, abundance in Malaysia. Fresh mackerels and sardines are served in the soup, as Penang is surrounded by sea. Tangy-spicy soup, a twist of Peranakan, Malays and Thai palette certainly explains the eating culture in the past.
Penang Assam Laksa
Insider's tips: Assam Laksa and Siamese Laksa at Nam Guang Coffee Shop, Balik Pulau Town. Offered in most Penang food court.

2. Popiah - Fresh Spring Roll
Never under estimate this simple dish made out from bean sprouts, shredded jicama, shredded carrot and french beans and strips of omelet, wrapped within lettuce, rolled in paper thin crepe. Some vendors do offer extra stuff such as shrimps or crab meat. Savory, can be taken as appetizer and always opt for soup to be served separately unless you're ready for steep spring rolls!

Insider's tips: Padang Brown MPPP Food Center. Exclusive, only offered in some Penang food market.

3. Oyster Omelet

Penang folks are blessed with fresh catch from the sea everyday and this includes oyster! With egg, tapioca flour and chopped spring onion, the batter is pan fried to golden color. This chewy and sticky oyster omelet is always good to be served with sweet-savory chilli. Quite a close brother to the famous Korean seafood pancake, except this oyster omelet may not turn out in a circle. Instead of the 'charred' Char Kuey Teow, try this for appetizer and you could be longing for more!

Insider's tips: If the queue is long and the omelet smells good, highly likely you're going to like it.
