If you love visiting museum, one after another then Jalan Kota in Bandar Hilir Melaka is a great place for you! In my life, I have never seen so many museums in a continuous stretch except in Melaka and they are surrounding St Paul's Hill.
From Dutch Square where a significant red clock tower is located, Stadthuys - the former building of Dutch Governor and his deputy had been converted to History and Ethnography Museum. Right on same building on other end is the Admiral Cheng Ho's gallery with a statue of Cheng Ho erected for remembrance.

Slightly inner towards the hill top is where Literature Museum, Governor's Museum and Democratic Government Museum are situated next to each other. Literature Museum contains the written historical record of Melaka from the period of Melaka Sultanate to the contemporary literature. While Democratic Government Museum keeps the trace of development and practice of Malaysia parliamentary democracy. Governor's Museum was formerly the residence of Melaka Governor from the period of Dutch, British until the first Melaka Governor after independence.
Coming next after a short walk is Architecture Museum which formerly was the Dutch's official residential house. After a small entrance leading up to St Paul Hill, there is Islamic Museum. It had been renovated extensively with the effort to include fine Islamic tradition, arts and craftsmanship.
Right next to Islamic Museum with white facade is Museum & Antiquities Department. Melaka state bought this building from Alegapar Chittiar in 1996. Before, it was operated as guest house. During the Dutch colonization, it was an official Dutch residential house. UMNO Museum comes next in red facade of two storey building to house the Malaya/Malaysia political history especially Melaka was the catalyst to gain independence. UMNO is the largest party of current ruling coalition of Barisan Nasional, also one of the oldest political parties in Malaysia.
Right after UMNO Museum is People's Kite Museum and Enduring Beauty Museum, the second tallest building in this stretch of museums.
Opposite is the Coronation Park where Melaka tree is situated in between a displayed old jet plane and a couple coaches of train.

Stamp Museum is next . It is the state's oldest museum after independence and was once occupied by Westerhout family for 300 years until 1930.
The tallest building here of white colonial facade is Malays and Islamic World Museum which was owned by Dunlop in 1930s until 1980s before brought back by state goverment and converted it into museum.
Separated by Porta de Santiago of the Portugese famous ruin in Melaka is where Cultural Museum is located. Constructed in accordance to the architecture reference from the era of Sultan Mansur Syah who ruled from 1456-1477, it is also called as Replica of Melaka Sultanate Palace.
If these are not sufficient, there are more that Melaka can offer like Malaysia Youth Museum, Baba & Nyonya Museum, Cheng Ho Museum and Maritime Museum. Just to name a few of the most popular ones! Melaka is definitely a great place for avid historical fans! To view in detail on the locations, click here for Google Map.
