The advantage of living here in Austin is I have the luxury of options for sausages and breads with countless of variations. Since there was sufficient supply of Wieners and hot dog bun at home, I decided to turn them into hotdog. As the name says 'hot'-dog, hotdog buns are usually served warm and this is something I love about hotdog compare to sandwiches.
On one thought, the hotdog's preparation is pretty straight forward. Just get the Wieners/sausages cooked either smoked or grilled. Then, chop finely some lettuce, slice some tomatoes and onions. Slot in the sausage into the hotdog bun and squeeze some ketchup sauce on top. Here it goes.
The above process I described may take less than 15 minutes however, it doesn't seem to demonstrate much of the cooking arts. Thus, I choose to be a little adventurous to create my own BBQ (barbecue) sauce to be glazed with the sausage. Frankly speaking, I am not too sure what is the main ingredients of BBQ sauce (there are several versions in the market) but after my Significant Other took the first bite, he told me the BBQ sauce of the hotdog bun is awesome. I guess I'd called it my edition of BBQ sauce!
Ingredients 4 hot dog bun 4 sausage (I use Turkey Wieners) 1/2 tbsp butter 4 clove garlic - minced 1/4 cup onion - minced 1/2 cup celery - chopped 1/2 cup cilantro - chopped 1/2 cup ketchup sauce 1/4 cup water 1 tbsp brown sugar 1/2 tbsp lemon juice 1 cup iceberg lettuce - finely sliced some sliced tomatoes and onions rings some chips
Method Prepare BBQ sauce 1. Place butter and melt it in a wok or skillet. 2. Add garlic, onion, celery. Saute until the vegetables turn transparent.
 3. Add cilantro and saute for another 3 minutes. 4. Turn to low heat. Add ketchup sauce and water and simmer. 5. Put the brown sugar and lemon juice. Stir, mix and allow the water to be evaporated and sauce become thicker.
 6. Place in the sausages and glaze with the sauce.

Prepare the hotdog bun 1. Grab the bread. Slice a center cut or side cut (of your choice).
 2. Put some sauce into the bread 3. Push in some lettuce and then place the sausage.
 4. Top with BBQ sauce and more lettuce if you wish. 5. Serve with sliced tomatoes, fresh onion rings and some chips. Bon Appetit!
I had so much fun in my laboratory and I wish you the same. Happy cooking!
