Tying bow or ribbon is a complement skill for flower arrangement especially in hand-bouquet. Bow is also used to adorn vase, gifts or Christmas tree! The secret of making a nice bow is practice. Practise, practise and practise! There is no other magic word unless you opt for buying a ready-made bow.
Step 1: Twist the ribbon, hold the twisted area tightly and make the first loop underneath. Twist again and hold the stack of twisted area securely. Step 2: Make another loop on the opposite side and twist again. Grab the twisted area steadily. Step 3: Repeat Step 2 until enough loops are gained. Step 4: Hold the bow and secure the loops by tying all the twisted area together and tightly with a wire.
Video below shows how to make a simple bow. When buying plastic ribbon, I will get the one with larger width so that I can always have the option of making a few sizes of bows ranging from large to small. Know how? Plastic ribbon is easily split, so just make a tiny cut in the middle end and I will have a few sizes of smaller width ribbon.
Another good tips that I learned from Wikihow, get a piece of thin Styrofoam and make a 'V' slit. Leverage on the slit to hold each twist while making the loops. After getting enough loops, move the ribbon out from the slit gently yet hold them tight. Then secure the loops by tying the bow/ribbon tightly. If you still further assistance, check out here. Give yourself a try to make one!
