'Selamat Datang' to Aquaria KLCC. 'Selamat Datang' is literally translated as 'Welcome' in Malays Language and you would be hearing this pretty often as you enter into Aquaria KLCC. Situated right in the heart of beautiful Kuala Lumpur, Aquaria KLCC is the state-of-art oceanarium encompasses an area of approximately 60,000 square feet.
Selamat Datang to Aquaria!
If you are taking your family for a vacation and putting up in the nearby vicinity of KLCC, you probably would like to consider taking your kids to experience this wonderful aquarium. I wouldn't call it as aquarium but more like an oceanarium or rather an educational experience on 'Journey of Water' as how it is being promoted.

After paying for the entrance fee (refer to the end of this article), there are a few unique DNA Touch Pools where they house Bamboo Sharks, Horseshoe Crabs and Starfish. Kids usually love this spot as they get a chance to touch these creatures. Kids, please be gentle yeah!

Electric Catfish..watch out!
As we proceed into the dim alley, there were cricket's chirping as if we were deep in the forest at the same time accompanied by croaking jungle frogs. I started to get a bit chilled, yet excited in case I might come across a Frog-Prince!Laughing Some preserved insects, butterflies and moths are displayed behind the glass window as we passed by. Hundreds of them!

Reptiles exhibit
Reptiles are there too and they are alive. One of my rare encounters was Alligator Snapping Turtle (Macroclemys temminckii). Belong to the turtle family, it has a pink tongue like appendage in its mouth which wiggles while open-mouth that lure unsuspecting fish. This is how this turtle earns its meal!
Blend in with its habitat, is it real? Alligator Snapping Turtle

While descending down to the next section, there is a giant vertical tube tank housing hundreds of sea creatures. Strangely, they swim in the circular mode of the shape of the tank.

Am I in Redang Marine Park?
The highlight of Aquaria KLCC is the 1.2 million liter 'Living Ocean' which houses about 3000 of the large, weird and wonderful marine creatures and they live harmoniously in simulated natural habitat. This section is built with a 90-meter moving walkway (reminds me of conveyar belt) that ferries me through to venture into ocean depth without getting wet! Practically, I was standing in a tunnel below a gigantic pool of water! All around me were prized exhibits includes Sand Tiger Sharks, stingrays, eels and turtles. Do not miss them! Schools of fish were gliding passed and they were so engrossed with their own world. Take note that the size of these creatures you are watching in actual fact is 30% smaller in size owing to some technicality of glass reflective index. So, they are actually larger! Wooo..what a wonderful world beneath!

And guess what, there is no limit to how many times you wish to ride on the moving walkway. No extra charges as such, most of us would at least make an additional trip. Guess it is never enough!

Jaws of shark - ready to attack?
Before leaving, check out the elegance corals, gentle anemones, fish and enjoy the beauty of their reef world. Here, you do not need to put on your goggles for a snorkeling trip yet you may get to see your favorite 'Nemo' or clownfish hanging around their homes - anemones.

Have fun with the wonders of underwater world!
