On our last family outing, we decided to pick Kuala Gula as our destination. This town has been mentioned again and again as one of the best spots of migratory birds as far as from Siberia and Russia. Thus, I did a bit of home work, getting a map for our trip and what to expect from this trip. After a lunch detour at Nibong Tebal, we continued our journey to Kuala Gula via a trunk road heading south, passing by Parit Buntar and Kuala Kurau.
Kuala Kurau is a fishing village, near the border of Province Wellesley (Seberang Perai) belonging to Krian district of Perak. Composed by a main road (Jalan Besar) with a few rows of shop houses and a coast road (Jalan Pantai), this town is located right beside Sg Kurau. As we arrived at Kulau Kurau town, we were attracted by a Chinese temple by Kurau river side and a newly constructed pedastrian bridge. We stopped by for photography moments!

This spot used to provide ferry service to take pedestrians and vehicles going across to Bagan Seberang and Kuala Gula. However, it has been substituted by a concrete bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. For four-wheel (or more) vehicles to get across, please reach for another newly constructed concrete bridge situated about 1 km away along Jalan Pantai, following the direction heading to Tanjung Piandang town.
A piece of advice, if you are lost, do not panic! The local folks are conversant in Hokkien or Teochew dialects and they are more than willing to assist you to navigate around this small town.
Where there is a will, there is a way!
