If you have not read about Diehong Bridge Scenic Area - Part 1, it is time to catch up here! As you read on, I would walk you through the rest of highlights of JiuXiang Cave in Kunming - another top attraction that you would regret if leave behind in your Yunnan trip itinerary!
The Goddess Cave or Palace is said to be the home of immortals and its original name is 'Immortals Cave'.
Inside the cave are plenty of well-developed and wonderful stalactites and stalagmites, which look like pretty fairies welcoming guests. Various names are given to them such as 'Fairies Welcoming Guests', 'Woman Weaver', and 'The Fairy is coming out of bathing'. To me, this is the most amazing stalactites and stalagmites I have ever seen!

After that, we continued our journey to The Twin Waterfalls. Both waterfalls are about 30 m high and they meet in a deep pool of more than 10 m depth.

Due to the strong water current gushing down, I could feel the sprinkles of water gently brushing my face as I stood next to the waterfall!
We are told that during the flood season, the two waterfalls will became one, which looks like a huge yellow dragon coming down from the cliff and produces loud, roaring sound. The maximum flow of the waterfall reaches more than 320 cubic meters per second, which ranks first among the cave-waterfalls in China.
As we climbed further, we then arrived at another major attraction – Magic Fields. This amazing God’s creation is just like tiers of paddy field, crisscrossed by nature. When the light reflects, it reminds me of the story our guide told us about the Yuanyang Rice Terrace in South Yunnan.

Our final hurdle was to climb up Bat Cave. This is the most challenging place as there are about 336 ascending steps. In fact, some of our team members have shown signs of giving up. Fortunately, at the beginning of the Bat Cave, there are laborers offering chair lift service.
Pay 50 yuan, and all you have to do is to sit on a chair and be lifted by two labors all the way up. Mind you, these people are really speedy! We estimate they took no more than 15 minutes to complete the entire Bat Cave.
We chose to complete the Bat Cave at our own pace. At the end of the expedition, there was a sense of achievement of satisfaction painted on everyone’s face. Cableway station was just a few steps away!
As we hop onto the open-air chair lift, my heart felt heavy leaving this magnificent place. This is one of the unforgettable experience - lovely caves, gorges, bridges, waterfalls and underground streams, at nature’s best!
Personally, I would recommend everyone that comes to Kunming – DO NOT miss out the SUPERB nature of Jiuxiang! If you are looking to stay at this place you can try to do a Hotel Search
