Madam Kwan iconMadam Kwan's is one of the restaurants I always love revisit when I am in KL. As far as I know, there are 4 Madam Kwan's outlets in Klang Valley namely Mid Valley, Bangsar, KL Pavilion and Suria KLCC.

Live up to its theme 'Truly Malaysian Cuisine', Madam Kwan's serves a range of Malaysian favorites like Nasi Lemak (Coconut Milk Rice), Char Kuey Teow (Fried Flat Noodle), Assam Laksa, Bubur Cha Cha, Cendul to some common oriental cuisines like Fish & Chips and Lamp Chop. Known to many as a fusion cafe, what I like most is the array of Malaysian dishes on the menu.

Set-up as a cozy and sophisticated kopitiam (mostly in shopping malls except the Bangsar outlet), Madam Kwan's is a great place to be to meet up with friends or even a family outings.

Madam Kwan's popularity does not contribute by ambiance alone, the dishes here are good and service is prompt. Somehow, I have never run out of choices to pick at Madam Kwan's. If you do wish to dine like a typical Malaysian style, hot from wok's menu offers some variety of Nyonya dishes, curry and fried vegetables to be taken with plain rice.

Highly recommended from my personal taste buds are Nasi Bojari and Nasi Lemak. Nasi Bojari is prepared from Indonesian royal rice and serves with assam prawns, beef rendang and deep fried chicken drumsticks.

Of nick-name as Malaysia national breakfast, Nasi Lemak at Madam Kwan's is a plate of coconut milk rice with hot spicy anchovies, pickled vegetables (achar), hard boiled egg, curry chicken and cucumber.

On our last trip, we asked for Assam Laksa and it turned out to be above par, almost comparable to the best Penang Assam Laksa. Amazing!

Done with main course, try their desserts like Ice Campur (literally means Mixed Ice), Cendol, Bubur Cha Cha and Sago Melaka to complete your Malaysian dining experience.
