Every soul is to be cherished and every flower is to bloom ~ Alice Walker

Fruits basket is one of the most popular lesson in floral arrangement as it is highly value in our society. Suitable to be presented for most of the occasions, a flower basket with assorted fruits is commonly practised for visiting, house warming, wishing for a speedy recovery as well as demonstrating congratulatory for the arrival of little one.

Design concept
'Cherish' is alive after we decided to visit to a friend who gave birth to a lovely baby girl! I picked the name 'Cherish' as it is self explanatory and covers everything I would like to list down and most importantly signifies adoring, appreciating and care deeply for someone.

Gerbera as primary flower which denotes purity and innocence prevails in this design to welcoming a new born. Elegant color of red, usually in Chinese belief symbolizing a happy occasion! Together with Eustoma Lisanthus which means grace and gentility is perfect for the arrival of a little baby girl!

Of the thought to include some fruits on one corner, 'Cherish' is tuned to mix the triangular shape (of Western Style) with creative concept. Red gerberas are composed in diamond shape on the left and pink blooming Eustoma are positioned on front view nearing the fruits corner. Light yellow buds of Eustomas are placed nearing the apex and creating an asymmetrical triangular shape.

Getting started
1. Get a plastic wrapper and place a wet oasis into a rattan basket.

2. Compose this design from an slight left angled front view. Start with red Gerbera, that was held by thin wire. Get the first gerbera at north-west position as this stalk is important to gauge the height of this arrangement. Followed by next gerbera at west to estimate the width of this design. Then, place gerbera at south and finally at the centre.

3. Add some Gold-dust Dracaena as green or foliages to cover the oasis.

4. Insert the pink blooming Eustomas right at front view. Light yellow-greenish Eustoma buds are positioned higher resembling nature whereby the flowering buds usually grows reaching the edges of green.
With Eustoma to match Gerbera
5. Add in some white asters in-between these flowers to brighten 'Cherish'!
Almost ready...

6. Place right empty corner with assorted fruited (and/or health products). Tie a red bow at the right handle.

Hey, thank you so much. Is the cost very pricey? There's one florist in Penang island charges are quite high (RM300). In order to have a more budget wedding, I have to give up that and made my own bouquet (RM30) for my registration without Eustomas.

I am planning to request my bridal house to include the Eustomas in my coming bridal bouquet, so I thought to ask you the price so that I can negotiate with my bridal house in case they said this type of flowers are out of their budget or some other kind of excuses.

Is Eustomas seasonal?

Wow! Congratulations to you cecelia! For a bunch of Eustomas (roughly 8-10 stalks), it cost me less than RM20. Florist will definitely mark-up the price but you may offer to get them by yourself (if you can guarantee to get from a reliable source smilies/smiley.gif) I am not sure whether it is seasonal but I think the best thing to do is perhaps to ring one of these wholesalers to check out. All the best in your wedding prep smilies/smiley.gif
