Love is a game that two can play and both win by loosing their heart ~ Eva Gabor
In the auspicious months of Chinese Lunar calendar like 8th month, it is common to hear the wedding bell rings! If you are lucky, you will be booked for every weekend. If not, it is still never too early to be disappointed, there are more to come especially towards the end of the year! For Malaysian Chinese, we usually give red packet (angpow) instead of gifts. This month, we were invited for a buffet wedding dinner and my significant other suggested giving a bouquet of flower instead. I was pretty excited and couldn't wait to have fun again!
Floral Material Sunflowers are picked as the focal flowers being the reason it can last longer. Besides, it is more exceptional and extraordinary compares to roses. To match with the bright orange sunflowers, I choose soft yellow fluffy carnations as primary flowers. Carnation also stays fresh longer than others like daisy. The secondary flower that goes with these is small white chrysanthemum pompon. White or yellow aster (white peacock or yellow peacock) can be added as fillers for this flower design. White and soft colors are combined in sync with white western wedding theme. In addition, a lovely pair of bride and groom bears is gotten from Prangin Mall in Georgetown (Penang) to elaborate the marriage mood.
From top left (clock-wise): a lovely pair of bears, bright sunflower, bendable stem, fluffy carnation
Design concept This design is originated from the Long centerpiece (western style) lesson, being an isosceles triangle when viewing from front. A love shape is added to promote the wedding ambiance. During the sketch, I have yet to decide what material to use to make the shape. Then, I recalled one type of foliages with bendable stem so I chose it to be included!

Getting started: 1. Compose from front view. Leverage on the shapes drawn below as guide. Somehow, I personally feel these shapes do help in my imagination. The pink line shows an isosceles triangle resembling the composition of a long center piece. While the blooming carnations will be placed based on green colored trapezoid. 2. Get two bendable stems and tie at the end with ribbons and a stick. The stick is then inserted into the oasis to hold the shape of love. While another two loose end slowly massaged and bend them into the oasis at the opposite side. At the same time, the shape is secured by tying a knot on the floral basket. Though it may sound simple but I take a little bit of patience to get this shape in place and sit beautifully. Please refer to my sketch from back view.
 3. Bride and groom bear are tied to a bamboo stick and then place near the apex of the floral composition or in the middle where the love shape starts forming as shown in the picture. 4. Compose the sunflowers, placing it in front of the bear couples at the apex of the triangle. Another one, slightly lower on the right. 5. Move on to insert the yellow carnations. Bud carnations are placed at both ends to make the length of an isosceles triangle. Two blooming carnation are composed almost same level with the lower sunflower and another two are guarding the apex sunflower on both sides. 6. Place the foliages to cover the oasis. 7. Insert some chrysanthemum pompon and some white peacock especially as companions to bud carnations at the horizontal level. 8. Roll the red with gold lining ribbons circulating the bent stem and here it goes the final arrangement.
Do you wish to know the response of the bride when this bouquet was delivered? The moment the bride saw this bouquet of flower, she was very thrilled and couldn't wait to take a few shots with it, then only with us! I guess her response said it all - I am loving it!!!
Let's toast for HAPPINESS!
