Growing up in Penang, we regard 'Wan Tan Mee' or dried egg noodle as one of our staple food. In the good old days, it is known as 'Tok Tok Mee'. My mom told me during her younger days the Wan Tan Mee sellers used to knock on their stall as a means to market this noodle and the sound created was 'Tok Tok'. And the kids called them 'Tok Tok Mee' and some stick to it until today! Nowadays, it more popular known as Wan Tan Mee and available in almost at every Chinese coffee shop in Penang whether it… |

A picture tells more than a thousand words and flowers speak more than a million languages. Carthamus tinctorius or commonly known as Safflower is remarkably a flower of longevity as it is highly nutritional. This flower caught my first attention when I landed at the fresh flower shop. This spot is always crowded whether it is a weekday or a weekend. When we were there last week, we shared a small table with two friendly aunties who are in their forties at least. They told us Toh Soon Cafe has been around for more than 30 years. Both of them live nearby and they saw and knew about this place since they were very young. "Now, it is run by the new generation", they claimed. What they love the most is his black coffee or what the Penangites called it 'Kopi 'O'' ('Kopi' means coff… |

As you look at a good photograph, it will have elements that will sort of lead your vision to explore and move into the subject of the photo. The elements are lines either implied or direct, visibile or invisible that guides the eyes to each element of the composition and guide you to 'explore' the photography. If you are a big fan of 'Bak Chang' (Rice Dumplings) and 'Or Kuih' (Yam Cake), Cintra Food Corner is definitely a perfect place for you. Located along Cintra Street, Cintra Food Corner is situated in the middle of a block of colonial building. We found it by chance when we parked our car along the one-way Cintra Street. As we walked towards Campbell Street along the five foot way, we saw several bunches of lovely and some huge 'Bak Chang' on the stainless steel food stall top. Displayed together… |

Motivated by disappointment of Spaghetti Bolognese served in a local chain restaurant (that also serves pizza), I decided to make my own tantalizing Spaghetti Bolognese at home last weekend. It has been ages since I cooked the last pasta. Nothing to fear and just do it, this is the motto I embraced to cook for my family a good Spaghetti Bolognese. Thanks to the internet, I managed to do a quick search before going to market, at least to verify the list of ingredient needed. |

As defined in the technical aspects of art, 'perspective' is a method of composition which aims to enhance or give a feeling of 3-dimension in the 2 dimension medium of the photograph or painting. With perspective, the relative size of subjects in the photograph also gives an impression of depth and distance. Perspective can also be exaggerated by shooting in w… |

Recommended by a good friend of ours, we decided to try the Spice and Rice Restaurant on His Birthday! Sandwiched between Light Street Convent and Green Hall Road, Spice and Rice Restaurant & Bar is in a British colonial building opposite Penang High Court. It is open for lunch and dinner. Parking lot is limited but there are plenty near the vicinity of Dewan Sri Pinang. That night, we made a convenience stroll from Dewan Sri Pinang heading for gastronomical adventure at Spice and Rice. |
