Fuel Hike Opportunity: Bicycle and Cycling Culture in Malaysia

Fuel EmptyI hope Malaysians do not be too upset about the fuel price hike. If 'CRISIS' is written in Chinese word, it is made of two characters; 'danger' and 'opportunity'. Danger or challenges are ahead but we should not stop looking for solutions or opportunity. In my opinion, cycling culture is worth investing for fellow Malaysians. Talking about bicycle, most of us choose to picture the problems. Not to worry, every problem does have an answer.

Like you I had plenty of doubts at the beginning to understand about global warming, environmentalism and those big words published on news headlines. Is 'Global Warming' merely a myth or another political agenda? Aren't sure what to begin with but I remember my teacher said 'Asking questions is the best way to learn'.

Doubts is the beginning not the end of wisdom ~ George Iles

Cowsense ConversationI have just had a conversation with a colleague moments ago. Well, by literal definition of "conversation", this one barely qualifies. It is not really meaningful conversation. I did most of the talking. The other guy barely has a chance to say much. In retrospect, I didn't get much out of the conversation either, though it felt good at that time.If you put a ratio for speaking versus listening for that conversation, I'd say it would be about 10:1, meaning that I am listening only 10% of the tim…

DreamI like to dream, in fact I have been dreaming of big pay checks, big house, big car. Everything that is big is all my wants and I guess that this stuff will drop down from the sky especially for me. What a naive thoughts in the first phase of thinking process!Fine, then if these stuff are not going to appear without a reason, then shall I just work hard to get it. Earth's HealthImagine that one day when we woke up from sleep, we see the hazy red color skyline. The air particle is visible and the smell of smoky air is extremely strong. We rush to the bathroom, turn on the tap and the water flowing is yellowish brown like the color of plain tea we used to drink. Yikes! Then, as we walk out from our apartment, vision is blurred, the sun is glaring and hardly any shades as there are only a handful of trees. Foot steps on the road are apparent made on thick dust. Black fume…

Direction to Penang HillJust about 15 minutes after I had embarked on the jungle trekking of Penang Longest Trail, the left side of my shoes decided to disintegrate after crossing the first stream. Oh no! The outsole was detached from the insole. Lightning never strikes twice in the same place but it did happen to me that day. As soon as I had succeeded the second stream, the outsole of my right side also burst and left me with nothing to spare. I have been wishing to walk on this trail since several years ago, so tur…

HikingLeg muscle cramp during hiking usually occurs on thigh or calve muscle, likely due to dehydration/electrolyte imbalance or muscle fatigue caused by heavy exercise. In order to prevent cramp, eat and drink reasonably while trekking on a long hike. If you are going for a harsh and tough hike, please prepare the physical body adapting to strenuous activity. Prior to the hike, engage in a couple of short hikes, cycling or running for at least 30 min each time on every alternate day may help.
