I heard of Beef Soup Kuey Teow at the corner Chinese Coffee Shop opposite Beach Street Fire Station many years back. In fact, this Beef Soup Kuey Teow is the anchor stall at Lam Ah Coffee Shop whereby its facade faces both Beach Street and Chulia Street. Everytime we stop at the traffic light junction, my eyes would glue to the Beef Soup Koay Teow stall and my mind wanders when would I have a chance to try.
After our Penang Hill hike yesterday, RC suggested that we go for the Beef Soup Kuey Teow in George Town. Hooray..at last, my wish came true!

We arrived there before noon and there were only 2 stalls operating at Lam Ah Coffee Shop. Besides Beef Soup Kuey Teow stall, there was another stall offering Fried Oyster. If neither fits you, try their Soft Bread breakfast set. It looked like that these soft buns are stuffed with cheese and pork. Appealed tempting but none of us ordered though.
More than half of total tables were occupied and most were enjoying their bowls of Beef Soup Kuey Teow. Most of us went for the Beef Soup Kuey Teow with beef balls. A few requested with beef strips. There are a few more add-on to choose including the cow's internal organs. If you do not like Koay Teow (flat noodle), you may ask for yellow noodle instead or a mixed of both.
A small bowl of Beef Soup Kuey Teow cost RM7 while a big bowl cost RM8. The young lady operator was very friendly and she even posed when I showed her my camera !
What I like most about the Beef Soup Noodle here is the broth. The aroma was pleasant, no strong smell of raw beef and simply perfect with coriander leaves and fried onions/garlic. Neither it was too oily. Serving together with a special chili sauce, it is good to dunk the beef balls or beef strips.
In Penang, there are not many places that serve Beef Soup Kuey Teow being the fact that relatively there is a large community of Penang Chinese who are Guan Yin devotees. According to the legend, Guan Yin Goddess's father was reincarnated as a cow and in respect to that, her worshippers do abstain from beef.
All of us enjoyed it very much. Delicious! Some of us really left nothing behind! Craving of a bowl of Beef Soup Noodle in Penang, this is a good place for you!
