Renowned for natural mountain streams, hot springs, waterfalls, hiking trails and flower parks, Yangmingshan National Park (NP) is a popular attraction near Taipei or northern Taiwan. Elevated averagely 443 meters from sea level, Yangming Mountain was formerly named as Grass Mountain after a type of tall coarse grass called cogon which were abundance in the area.

Majestic sight of mountain ridges and cool climate attract many hikers to explore its hidden beauty. Interestingly, Yangmingshan holds a unique ecology blending the natures of volcanic (hot springs), waterfall, basin and mountainous forest which gives shelter to enormous birds and plants. It is a vast area, plan your hiking trip if you ready to walk into a landscape painting of Yangminshan!

For visitors who favor less strenuous activity may however opt to stroll within the premise of Yangming Park. Occupying an area of 107 hectares, more than half Yangmin Park is developed, housing Chinese style garden, pavilions, kiosks, streams, fountains and ponds in natural setting.
Colors of spring
Fondly known as 'Forest in the City' or at times as 'Imperial Garden of Taipei', the famous landmark of Yangming Park is the flower clock. It broadcasts melodious music every half hour. Spring is the season to visit Yangming Park with refreshing landscape of flowering plants such as cherry, plum, camellia, peach and azaleas. Each spring, Yangming Park holds a flower festival from end of February until end of March with a long list of activities lined up for visitors. It is also the peak period.

If you miss spring, other seasons in Yangmin Park is equally rewarding. Visiting Yangmin Park in summer is blessed with spectacular sight of water lilies in various colors, floating in the water with their leaves dancing in the wind, intermingled playful butterflies and nature's orchestra from birds. While autumn offers the spirit of maple in crimson shade, ready to welcome the peaceful winter.
