The charm of Taiping Lake Gardens that serves as the first public park in Malaysia attracted us to detour when we made our first interstate road trip to Ipoh with our little one. My last trip to Taiping Lake Gardens was perhaps more than half a decade ago so I couldn't recall if there were any eateries near the lake.

Searching online brought to our attention that there are a handful beside the beautiful lakes.

We settled for Taman Tasik Food Court for lunch after making two loops. Within walking distance from the scenic stretch of rain trees, this eatery also has ample car park. Operating 24 hours as indicated on the signpost, it offers the choices of local hawker food including laksa, chicken rice, noodles, western, a fair bit of Thai flavors and bak kut teh.

Since we were in the silver state, I opted for bean sprouts chicken rice as Ipoh is well known for the produce of crunchy and juicy bean sprouts.  It cost me RM3.80.

My Significant Other (SO) went for a set of bak kut teh (spare ribs herbal tea soup). Offered with a bowl of rice and yu tiau (deep fried flour dough) each, it cost him RM9 though I saw the stall indicated RM7 or RM8 for one person's set. Either my SO was charged for a tourist price or the cost had been revised again, we left the answer to the stall operator Smile.

On a hot afternoon, this eatery is certainly not a spot one would stay long. Heat transmitted from zinc roof and dirty public toilets chased us away as soon as we filled up our hungry mouths.

Simple and good!
Despite the flip side, the bak kut teh was good and the bean sprout chicken rice was up to par.

Perhaps our next visit to Taiping Lake Garden, we will go with our picnic baskets so that we could tuck in while enjoying the picturesque landscape!

the problems of the stalls is they had inflated those price, what a shame to this town !
