Less than 10 km from Yehliu Geopark, Jinshan is a rural township on the northern coast of Taiwan. Formerly inhabited by Pingpu aboriginees, this shoreline town was known as Jinbaoli (金包里) . After Japanese occupation, it was renamed to Jinshan (金山).

For gastronomy adventurers who visit Jinshan or nearby vicinity, Jinbaoli Street or better known as Jinshan Old Street is an ancient market place that not to be missed.

As lunch time crawls in, customers form beelines for the duck noodle stall in front of Guang An Temple (廣安宮). Relayed over 2 generations, the business started 40 years ago. Today, this spot is a popular eating place in Jinshan Old Street.

Visitors or locals, everybody flocks here for the famous duck meat. Besides the highlight, it also served fried noodles, a variety of seafood fritters and stir-fried seasonal vegetables and seafood. As long as the dishes are on platters, they are ready for grab. Self-service with dining area provided a few shops away from the stall or temple ground. According to the local we befriended at Yehliu, the duck meat is a must try, fragrant and tender. Trust me, the dishes here are going away fast. Grab as your turn arrives, never consider or think twice! It is an interesting scene though, seeing the people rushing for food, as if they are having a free feast :). Despite all the excitement, remember to pay at cashier counter after finishing your meal.

Being a big fan of noodles, our grab was a platter of stir-fried noodles. We also tried the noodle soup from the stall opposite the duck meat. Both were good and inexpensive.
