I love to read prior to my travel and I guess this effort paid off when it comes to make the most out of our journey. Our trip to Davis Mountain State Park was like killing two birds with one stone. Watched the stunning landscape on the peaks on Davis Mountains and enchanted by the architecture of Indian Lodge.
Nestled in Davis Mountains, the famous Indian Lodge is accessible via the same park entrance of Davis Mountains State Park. It is just one mile away from the Park Headquarters on the western end of Davis Mountains State Park.
Indian Lodge is the legacy of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Completed in 1935, Indian Lodge symbolizes the pinnacle of CCC architecture at Davis Mountains State Park. The original masterpiece was built with 16 rooms and has notably withstood the test of time.

This charming structure utilized old adobe construction technique made of molded earthen bricks constituted of water, straw and soil excavated on site to form 18-inch thick walls of three-story high! Of pueblo-style lodge, Indian Lodge was finished with locally harvested, hand hewn pine vigas and river cane latilla ceilings which gives rustic charm to its historic lobby.
Apart from appreciating the amazing architecture, this is a great venue to relax or be thrilled with wildlife. It also offers plenty of nature trails for hiking or biking and equestrian trails for horseback riding.
Today, it has expanded to house 39-room, functioning as a full service hotel, restaurant, meeting rooms and a swimming pool. Voted the #1 accommodation in Texas by readers of Texas Highways magazine in 1992, this venue is a popular lodging especially during holidays. Make an early reservation to avoid any disappointment.
