Road to Boquillas Canyon
Four miles away from Rio Grande Overlook is where Boquillas Canyon Overlook is situated. Boquillas is derived from Spanish word which means 'little mouths'. 'Bocas' refer to the small cave like holes in the cliff that look like 'little mouths'. This sight of 'bocas' is very obvious along Boquillas Canyon which I am going to share in my next journal on Boquillas Canyon Trail.

Boquillas Canyon is ahead
At this distance, Boquillas Canyon is hardly visible but we caught an awesome sight of the water and green foliage in the midst of desert land. Coicidentally, we also saw some human activities on the land of Mexico. You may also catch a sight of Mexican souvenirs displayed on some rocks. The most prominent amongst are the hand-crafted walking sticks which are sold at $5 each.

Boquillas Canyon is the longest canyon in Big Bend National Park which extends over 33 miles from Rio Grande Village to Heath Canyon but it is the easiest to navigate of all in this park. With a vertical walls sheer over 1,200 feet above the river, the rapid here is graded no more than Class II. Thus water rafting along Boquillas Canyon is somewhat ideal for beginners. Furthermore, the water is calm for most of the miles.
