Red Poppy Festival was the magnet that brought me to explore the city of Georgetown in Texas. The name of the city is very familiar, in fact it sounds exactly like the city where my Alma mater is located. Indeed nostalgic, linger with countless beautiful memories of good old days! That's George Town of Penang in Malaysia!
Home to the population of 28,339 (census 2000), Georgetown of Texas sits along IH-35, is less than 20 miles from my current residence in Austin. The arrival of spring marks the blooming season of Red Poppy flowers. Since Red Poppy flower has been part of Georgetown heritage and colors the landscape of Georgetown, the city is also nicknamed the 'Red Poppy Capital of Texas'!

Started 11 years ago, Red Poppy Festival is held annually at Historic Square in the downtown of Georgetown. Lining up over 100 unique handcraft vendors from nationwide, the festival also offers a variety of food for everyone, a stage for musical performance and fabulous children play area.

We were attracted by the car show, thus we were there early on Saturday of last April 24. Parking was free but it was a distance from the festival area. Guided by the sound of music and people, we reached an open air show room. That's Austin Avenue of Georgetown. Antique, vintage, classic, convertible, hatchback, truck, saloon (sedan), hot rod, anything you name it, you may see it parking here at Red Poppy Festival.
