Seafood is a common cuisine served back in my hometown, Penang (Malaysia) as it is an island surrounded by sea. The only reason I less frequented the seafood restaurants back in my home country is because my Significant Other does not fancy the crustaceans, shrimps or even molluscs. The only decent seafood for him is fish that sounds boring to me as I have this protein every alternate day at home!
Austin is a city in the middle of Texas. The nearest sea shore is Gulf of Mexico which is more than 150 miles away from where we live and this position really makes me craving for seawater fish. Guess I didn't want to miss my chance when we had a trip to Houston.

I planned it in our itinerary to visit Kemah which I read that it is a good place for seafood. I found Landry's in particular is serving excellent seafood.
Landry's Seafood is one of the seafood restaurants along Kemah Boardwalk. We arrived half past seven and I knew this place is pretty crowded especially on weekend. We went ahead into Landry's and put down our name on the wait list. The host staff told us a standard wait-time between 45 minutes to an hour. She did suggest that we took a stroll and came back after half an hour but we decided to sit down and wait for our turn.
Holding our growling stomach, we waited patiently and in less than 20 minutes, our turn finally arrived. We did not waste our time while queuing. In fact, we browsed the menu and had made up our mind for what to have for a seafood dinner. Thus, as soon as we got seated, we told the server staff what we wanted. Interestingly, everybody ordered the same thing which was a Seafood Platter and a large bowl of Clam Chowder.
Food was served in less than 15 minutes. Besides what we ordered, the entree came with garlic break and vegetable salad as complimentary.
I wished the clam chowder was served in a bread bowl like what I had in San Francisco even though the description did not mention that. However, it did not. I spooned and took a sip of it and all I could say was 'awesome'. The clam chowder was creamy, perfect with garlic bread and beyond my expectation!
There are two types of seating environment, one of indoor which we opted. Alternatively, outdoor seating by the sea and get brushed by the chilled breeze could be a good choice too. Be there early is an advantage as you may catch the view of the trawlers returning to the pier with their catch.
