Mudd Cove is one of the most popular spots at Pace Bend
Claimed to be the most beautiful spot on Lake Travis, Pace Bend Park stretches over nine miles of shoreline and occupies the largest area of the lake, being more than 1,300 acres. Popular among the weekenders and holiday makers, it offers a huge range of recreational opportunities including sun-bathing, picnicking, camping, swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain-biking, horse-riding, sailing and boating. And a few high adrenaline activities await such as rock-climbing and cliff-diving.

Popular among day trippers and weekenders
Nestled within the rugged part of Texas Hill Country near Spicewood, Pace Bend is just 30 miles west of
Austin. Pace Bend Park is easy to access by vehicles on the 7-mile paved road that looped the edges of Lake Travis. From the main loop, there are dozen of branches which take you to the cove and shoreline.
Sunset at Pace Bend
Since our day pass to Hamilton Pool Our entitled us to visit Pace Bend Park on the same day, we headed to there in the afternoon after picnicking at the natural pool. Our first stop at Pace Bend Park was on the western side. Formed by rocky coves and limestone cliff with a sheer descent into the water, this spot attracts mainly primitive campers, rock climbers and cliff divers (I guess)! Do consult the park ranger before engage in these activities.

Mudd Cove is the top favorite among day trippers or overnight campers. It is the main lake area whereby a
family of all ages get to enjoy. Huge and spacious grassland overlooking Lake Travis, it is situated on the northern side of the park.  Swimming is permitted here and there is an area of shallow beaches, perfect for children and dogs. On a breezy day, besides the birds  guarding the coast, one may also see kites flying on the lovely blue sky. The view of Lake Travis, gravel beaches blended with the meadow of Texas wildflowers is impressive!
