"All the world is welcome here." ~ Lyndon Baines Johnson
Texas White House - near Stonewall
Swing by Pedernales River - overlooking the facade of Texas White House
This phrase undoubtedly refers to the 'Texas White House' - the focal piece of LBJ Ranch. Located by the
pretty and calm Pedernales River, Texas White House was originally constructed from native limestone fieldstone in 1894 by a German settler. In 1909, the President's aunt and uncle bought over and stayed until 1950s. During the President's childhood, the President used to visit often and this house eventually gave him a sense of belonging, a place he wished to live. Perhaps this aspiration resulted him to purchase this place from his aunt in 1951. Since then, additional features had been included notably master bedroom and office wing.

Welcome to Texas White House!
If you wish to pay a visit inside the White House, pay one buck at the hangar and join the ranger-guided
tour. The park ranger would take you through to first sighting its facade, then walk through a formerly
functioning White House away from Washington. Here was the venue where President Johnson performed his work besides entertaining his guests. The office also showcases some special gifts President Johnson received during his tenure in public service.
We were there 2 weeks before Christmas

Done with office wing, we proceeded to living area. Cozy and homely. Yet most eyes were drawn to one corner where three old TV sets were. Simple reason. In 1960s, there were only 3 channels on TV so they were there to serve theirs purpose. We then moved to the dining hall and kitchen area. Surprisingly we found a bar at the laundry area. Indeed interesting!
Reindeers
Behind the Texas White House is a hangar which now has turned to visitors area. Exhibits includes photographs of President Johnson are showcased here. Airstrip is just ahead in the midst of the huge grassland.

Apart from these, roam the surrounding area. Explore the garage and check out the gas 'station'. There is always something new to discover. One may find some little things about President Johnson that was not mentioned the textbooks!
